On Saturday 6 March the vessel "Stemat Spirit" is christened in Rotterdam by Mrs Bianca Balkenende-Hoogendijk, wife of prime minister Balkenende. The Stemat Spirit is a unique cable laying ship that will be deployed in the realisation of offshore wind parks for the benefit of sustainable energy generation.

Terneuzen to get the most sustainable glasshouse horticultural region in Western Europe.

On 20 May 2008, Adhémar van Waes, council executive for the municipality of Terneuzen, signed contracts with the first parties setting up in the greenhouse horticultural area of Terneuzen. This horticultural region will be the most sustainable one in the Netherlands and, as such, in Western Europe too.

Solent Crossing realised

Visser & Smit Hanab (UK) Ltd has replaced the existing water pipeline from the UK mainland to the Isle of Wight. This line crosses the Solent with two new pipes with a diameter of 400 mm.
